FAQ

Where do your sessions take place?

We will be meeting via online tele-sessions, so our sessions will take place wherever you feel you can give your full attention and focus.

Whether you decide to turn on your screen at home, the beach, or a library, I will be ready on my end.

Where in the world are you located?

I live in Broomfield, Colorado… a suburb of Denver.

How long are sessions?

A typical session is 30 minutes. We can adjust the sessions longer or shorter in 15-minute increments according to your needs.

How often do we meet?

We meet once per week.

How much do you charge?

Individual sessions are $80 per 30 minutes. These sessions can be prorated in 15-minute increments.

Group sessions are provided at $70 per 50 minutes.

How do I pay for sessions?

You can pay online using a debit or credit card. My services can also be paid with a card tied to your HSA or FSA account.

Do you take insurance for speech therapy or speech coaching?

I currently do not take insurance for speech therapy. However, I am happy to provide you with an invoice (aka “superbill”) to submit to your private insurance for out-of-network services.

Speech coaching is not covered by insurance because it is not a medical disorder.

How do I set up an initial appointment?

You can call, text, or email me to set up a free initial 20-minute consultation.

We will discuss your speech needs at that time. Depending on what we discuss, we will plan next steps and what your treatment plan or programming will look like.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require at least 24 hours to cancel a session. No-shows will be charged $50 for the missed session.

With what age range do you work?

I work with children ages 3-12 for speech therapy.

I work with adults ages 21 and up for accent modification services.

What is the difference between speech therapy and speech coaching?

Speech therapy is for children whose articulation difficulties affect their overall communication abilities.

Speech sound development occurs with the expectation that milestones will be achieved. When children don’t master specific speech sounds at an expected age, treatment is provided to correct the delay or disorder.

For my adult clients, I offer accent modification services.

An accent is not a disorder. Rather, it is a communication difference. We all have an accent. It represents our background and where we come from. My adult clients have excellent communication skills in their primary language or regional accent. However, their pronunciation of American English may be impacted by their primary language or accent making them less intelligible to their intended audience. This is where we can work on pronunciation so that their speech is more “listener-friendly.”

What does a typical session look like?

After logging in, we will chat about the sounds you are working on and how the previous week went regarding homework, practice, and usage during your typical day.

We’ll work on sound production and move forward with learning your targeted sounds/words until we’ve achieved your end goals.

The end goal for all my clients is to be comfortable speaking clearly and confidently during conversations with others.

Is there homework in between sessions?

Yes, in order to make significant progress, homework and exercises are provided and required.

How many sessions will I need?

With my kiddos, this depends on how quickly they learn to produce their target speech sounds and their own motivation to learn and change.

Speech therapy is not a quick fix. There are a lot of factors that affect the length and outcome of therapy. The process can last anywhere from a few months to a few years.

For my adult clients, one option we’ll use is the Compton P-ESL program. This program can be completed in an 8- or 13-week program. This program does require consistent practice, motivation, and the drive to make changes.

If you would like to work on specific pronunciation techniques using a different customized approach, we can definitely come up with a plan to address your needs.

Beach or Mountains?

I am 100% a beach person. A gorgeous beach, ocean sunsets, and people frolicking near the shoreline soothe my soul, unlike any other place. Colorado, your mountains are beautiful, too… BUT it’s the ocean that brings me absolute joy.
